Super Value Barossa Shiraz
Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Shiraz has established itself as a perennial favourite, consistently delivering a delicious, flavoursome Barossa Shiraz that people just can't seem to get enough of.
The 2020 Schist Rock Shiraz delivers everything that's made previous vintages so popular; vibrant juicy black fruit and chocolate flavours, subtle quality French oak influence, and the seemingly perfect balance between power and approachability. Another crowd-pleasing Schist Rock Shiraz that offers super value Barossa Shiraz drinking at this price.
"A generous and highly flavoursome shiraz from the Mt McKenzie area of Eden Valley. It’s a smooth and textured lively shiraz, reflecting the cooler influences of this part of the Eden Valley high above the Barossa. Dark chocolate and blackberry with luscious liqueur cherry and plum flavours. Love the grainy mouthfeel. 92/100"- Ray Jordan, The West Australian, January 2021.
"Intense and packed with flavour. Ripe dark cherry, dark fruit cake and spice, a little violet and dried mint. It’s full-bodied, beefy and spicy, fine chalky tannin, dark chocolate and cherry, with a pretty long ripe finish. Very elemental as at now, with heaps of stuffing, and good potential. 92 Points Tasted: Dec20. 14.5% alc. $25 Screwcap Drink: 2022 - 2028+" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
"Mark this new Torzi Matthews Schist Rock Shiraz 2020 as another absolute winner from Dom Torzi. Chocolate and coffee bean oak, but not oaky, the palate taut, mid-weight, surprisingly tannic, and even introduces some truffley complexity in there too. Not profound in its fruit weight or intensity, but choc-full of dark-fruited Eden Valley Shiraz charisma for very few dollars. Yes yes! Best drinking: good to go, and for plenty of years yet. 17.7/20, 92/100. 14.5%, $25.. Would I buy it? Well worth a bottle." - Andrew Graham, www.ozwinereview.com.
