The team at Turkey Flat believe Grenache is particularly well suited to the Barossa climate due to its ability to withstand extremes of heat, aridity and wind. Made predominantly from grapes grown on Turkey Flat's 100+ year old vineyard, Turkey Flat always deliver a fantastically concentrated and impeccably structured example of Barossa Grenache.
The 2020 Turkey Flat Grenache is another top line example delivering beautiful floral and spiced aromatics, bright fruit that fills out into more complex spiced and savoury characteristics, and strong tannins that will ensure longevity.
"95+ Points. This is a serious sort of Grenache, packed with tannin and a meaty reductive character (as a young wine, at least). Cherry pip, raspberry, maybe strawberry, but dry feeling and distinctly not sweet, falling more to hazelnuts and ironstone character. It has a latent rosy perfume tucked in there, concentration with lightness and ‘mineral’ feel, and a long tannic finish. It’s top shelf. "95 Points. For this price, it's astounding that the lion's share of the grenache in this wine hails from 100+yo estate-grown vines; we are indeed a lucky country. A vibrant red-fruited aromatic blast with hints of ginger cake, cola, exotic spice, purple flowers and light Turkish delight lift. Juicy and pure, yet with a stony, savoury lean on the finish. Consistently delightful drinking and a regional classic. $45. 14.1%. Drink by 2028. Screwcap" - Dave Brookes, winecompanion.com.au
