The 2017 Turkey Flat Shiraz impressed at the 2019 Sydney Royal Wine Show where it collected a gold medal and was awarded 95 points by the expert judging panel. A generous, intensely flavoured and impeccably structured Barossa Shiraz, the 2017 vintage that will only strengthen the reputation of this iconic Barossa producer.
"95 Points. Barossa shiraz in very fine form. It’s a full-bodied wine but it’s also a wine of finesse. The fruit is served fresh, the tannin fine, the finish juicy and lingering. It tastes of boysenberry and blackberry, earth and toast, hay and cedarwood. It gets up and going quickly and then sings convincingly throughout. The key take-home here is the word ‘fresh’. It looks at the line and walks right down the middle of it, in full control, nothing overdone, nothing out of place. Tasted: Jul19 Alcohol: 14.2% Price: $50 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2024 - 2035+" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
"94 Points. The cadence of this wine fits best with the Barossan archetype: avuncular, warm and comforting. This said, it also embraces a lighter, fresher and more aromatic form. Violet, clove and sweet cherry liqueur teem along well portioned vanilla pod oak and anise-doused grape tannins. Svelte and long. 14.2% alc. Drink 2032. Screwcap. $50" - Ned Goodwin, Halliday Wine Companion 2020.
