Established in 2013 by winemaker Ricky Evans, Two Tonne Tasmania (TTT) began with a humble "two tonnes" of grapes and has since become a standout of the Tasmanian "new wave." Evans focuses on sub-regionality, sourcing fruit from the Tamar Valley (TMV), the East Coast (EST), and Southern Tasmania.
The 2025 Two Tonne Tasmania TMV Chardonnay is produced from grapes grown across several sites in the Tamar Valley, resulting in a holistic Chardonnay snapshot of the Tamar.
Ricky picked over several passes, chasing racy freshness and round, generous weight. Fermentations occurred mainly in puncheons with a single foudre in the mix (15% new). A single parcel matured on lees in tank, whereas the rest remained in wood with occasional lees stirring and partial malolactic conversion. The wine matured for 10 months.
