96 Points - Ray Jordan
Margaret River's Voyager Estate has firmly established itself as one of Australia's leading exponents of Cabernet Sauvignon. Made from hand harvested parcels of fruit from Voyager Estate's best vineyard blocks, this is always an expressive Cabernet with wonderful poise and complexity.
This exceptional 2019 Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon again comes from Voyager's finest, organically farmed vineyards. Opening with lifted aromas of sweet black fruit, chocolate, violet, earthy and a touch of cedar. The palate is typically vibrant and approachable with plenty of red fruits, violets and savouriness, with fine tannins leading to a long, balanced finish. Another classic Voyager Cabernet that will draw plenty of admirers.
"96 Points. Silky smooth, velvety palate is a feature of this exceptional cabernet. It's only just starting to reveal its qualities. Leafy black olive and subtle oyster shell minerality on the nose work neatly with the lively red and black fruit combination. Fine chalky tannins and a smooth introduction of oak have harnessed the palate and focussed it to a very long finish."- Ray Jordan, rayjordanwine.com.au.
"95 Points. There's such a distinct Voyager Estate character to this wine, largely because the fruit comes off the estate vineyard. It's heady with tobacco leaf, nori, dried herbs, mulberries and cassis. It's savoury and supple and the tannins feel mellow and shapely, there's depth, complexity and length. It's captivating now but will reward the patient more so. 14% alc. Drink: 2023 - 2029. Screwcap. $95"- Jane Faulkner, winecompanion.com.au.
"95 Points. Like the crackling and pop of a campfire that ushers up memories of great outdoor fun. The aromas of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon are familiar and full of sentimental charm. Blackberries, mulberry and sage bush. Stripped paperbark, lead pencil and cedar. A mocha and cocoa nib spice leads to true cinnamon and mace. The palate is fresh with red and black fruits and unpinning the fruit is dried thyme and oregano supported by a medium bodied, fine and dusty tannin frame. It’s a reliable wine that any Cabernet lover would adore and still has plenty of gusto to go the distance. Drink now and will cellar for another 15 years. Serve alongside Texas style smoked brisket and all the sides."- Shanteh Wale, winepilot.com.
