A vibrant, flavoursome and super approachable Margaret River Shiraz, the 2017 Xanadu DJL Shiraz is bursting with blackberries, redcurrant and ripe forest fruits flavours. Ready to be enjoyed now and long into the future, this is another bargain Shiraz from the team at Xanadu.
"93 Points. The words ‘return to form’ are apt. Can Margaret River shiraz be described as delightful? This wine makes the argument. It’s fluid, sweetly fruited, composed, tense-enough to lend it shape but in general: calm. Berries, mocha and woodsy spice notes are the conduits. So perfectly balanced. The glory of the mid-weight red. It offers excellent buying/drinking. Tasted: Aug19 Alcohol: 14% Price: $25 Screwcap. Drink: 2019 - 2029" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
John and Eithne Lagan arrived at Margaret River in 1968, first planting their vineyard in 1977. The Lagans planted the first vines in what is now one of the region’s oldest vineyards. Xanadu has a long history of producing wines of distinction, with loads of varietal and regional characteristics.
Today, Xanadu stands among the finest and most consistent Margaret River wineries, with their Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends among the standouts.
A winner of countless rave reviews and wine show awards, Xanadu achieved one of Australia's highest wine honours, when it was award the 2018 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. The winning wine was the 2016 Xanadu Estate Cabernet Sauvignon; as judged the best one or two-year-old dry red wine at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show.
