96 Points - James Suckling
Yangarra’s combination of ancient geology, high altitude and Mediterranean climate provide the ideal growing conditions for the best grape varieties of the southern Rhône. Sourced exclusively from 13.3 hectares of un-irrigated bush vines planted in 1946, Yangarra's Old Vine Grenache is consistently outstanding.
The 2024 Yangarra Old Vine Grenache is a perfumed, complex and elegant wine with the trademark tannin structure. Another stunning Grenache from Yangarra, this is sure to sell out quickly.
"96 Points. Remarkable purity and perfume with a fruit-driven, savory and herbal edge. Aromas of red and black berries, pomegranate, red licorice, citrus peel and earth. The textural, rounded palate shows firmly framed yet silken tannins and generous fruit that bring the wine together beautifully. An excellent release. Outstanding value. Made from dry-grown vines planted in 1946. Drink or hold. Screw cap."- James Suckling, jamessuckling.com.
"94 Points. Raspberry frogs, cherry, almond paste, spice and dried flowers, a subtle volatile lift adds a little frisson to it. Ripe red fruits, nutty and rich, fine silty tannin, dried cranberry, lots of perfume and character, with a fleshy finish of excellent length. Lovely wine. Perhaps a little slushy, but very nice all the same."- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
"94 Points. Good depth and brightness of red-purple colour; brooding spice and dark fruit aromas; the palate is intense and rich; deep, bright and bold, the fruit driving it, with serious depth and a wash of ripe, fleshy tannins completing the picture. Cellar to see it build more detail with time. (Blewitt Springs)."- Huon Hooke, The Real Review.
