Founded in 1805, Vollereaux Champagne is based in Pierry, a Premier Cru village in the heart of Champagne. Managed by the 6th generation of the Vollereaux family, Champagne Vollereaux is a truly 'Grower-producer', continuing to farm, harvest and vinify their own grapes from 40 hectares of family-owned vines. This allows Vollereaux to achieve a level of quality and consistency often lacking in the 'big-name' Champagne makers.
The Champagne Vollereaux Reserve Brut NV is a classic, equal-parts blend of the three main Champagne grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier (roughly 33% each). It is aged on its lees for an average of four years, which is significantly longer than the 15-month legal minimum, resulting in a more refined and integrated texture. The nose offers fresh aromas of white-fleshed fruit (pear and apple) and honey, evolving into riper notes of apricot and brioche. The palate is creamy and supple with a dense, harmonious mouthfeel. It balances citrusy acidity with a subtle, toasted maturity.
"This producer, based to the south of Épernay, has created a cuvée that offers fruitiness while also a light structure. Crisp apple and citrus flavors are balanced by the taut texture of a Champagne that is ready to drink"- Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast.
