96 Points - Philip Rich
Since the early 2000's, Medhurst Estate has been crafting some of the Yarra Valley's finest wines. With the sole objective of making the best wine possible, careful vineyard management ensures yields are low, averaging two tonnes per acre and providing intensely flavoured fruit.
The 2025 Medhurst Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is made entirely from Medhurst Estate fruit from 25 year old vines. Designed to be early consumption, this offers up a highly perfumed complex nose with red fruits and savoury spice. The palate has a core of dark satsuma plums and cranberry fruit flavours and the mouthfeel is soft yet intense with terrific structure and a fresh clean natural acid backbone. Another super impressive Yarra Pinot Noir from Medhurst that offers terrific value drinking at this price.
"96 Points. Mostly MV6. 5% whole bunches. 20% new oak. A very bright crimson. Aromatic with a bouquet of red fruits, poached rhubarb, rose petal and spice. Fleshy and energetic on the palate with fine, silky tannins. Medhurst's calling card is in great form. A delicious wine to drink now through the next 5-7 years. $38. 13% alc. Drink: 2026 - 2032.
