96 Points - Toni Paterson
Located near the small village of Moonambel in the heart of the Pyrenees region of Western Victoria, Dalwhinnie has been growing grapes for nearly 50 years. Now a fully mature vineyard, Dalwhinnie continues to produce a stunning array of wines that are distinctive, elegant and reflect the benefit of a dry-grown vineyard.
The 2022 Dalwhinnie Moonambel Shiraz has lovely lifted aromas; dark ripe rich and sweetly spiced, intense black cherries and lifted rose petals. A rich wine with an underlying elegance, this has concentrated dark bramble patch fruits, with freshness and incredibly fine skin tannins. The mid palate is full, with remarkable length and plenty of fine, chocolate savoury tannins. As with all great Dalwhinnie Shiraz, this will continue to build over the coming decade.
"96 Points. This wine is an utter joy with its gorgeous mulberry, black cherry, cacao nib and warm spice. The palate has a fabulous vibrancy and energy, making it highly engaging and inviting. The strength of the vineyard shows through, as does the age of the vines. 20 months in French barriques imparts nutty top notes, which integrate as the wine opens. It is a classy, delicious wine that beautifully expresses its site. 14% alc. Drink: 2024 - 2030. Screwcap"- Toni Paterson, Halliday Wine Companion.
