96 Points - James Halliday
As the site of the first grape plantings in Western Australia's Great Southern region, Forest Hill is one of the pioneers of cool-climate winemaking in WA. Forest Hill's collection of Estate wines are always impressive and deliver remarkable value drinking.
A lovely deep purple in colour, the 2022 Forest Hill Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon offers classic blackberry, dark chocolate, bay leaf and a touch of lavender on the nose. The concentrated and supple palate delivers superb balance with the dark chocolate, spice and dark berry fruit supported by lovely fine tannin and a long textured finish.
"96 Points. This enchanting cabernet has been produced from a blend of sites on the estate vineyard, including plantings from 1975 and a small parcel from the oldest malbec vines. It has a flawlessly rich palate with abundant blackcurrant fruit embraced by integrated French oak and ripe tannins. 14% alc. $35. Drink: 2024 - 2047. Screwcap."- James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion.
