95 Points - Philip Rich
Since the early 2000's, Medhurst Estate has been crafting some of the Yarra Valley's finest wines. Medhurst's 'Yarra Valley' Chardonnay always delivers high quality drinking and excellent value-for-money. Made from grapes grown on the Medhurst Estate Vineyard, these were picked earlier than the 'Estate' offering Chardonnay.
A wine that's established itself as one of our 'in-house' favourites, the 2024 Medhurst Yarra Valley Chardonnay is another impressive Chardonnay made in an early drinking style. Poised and powerful, this has plenty of cool-climate white peach and citrus with a hint gunflint and some quality French oak influence. With excellent length and a beautiful line of natural acidity, this is another impressive Yarra Chardonnay from Medhurst that delivers super value at this discounted price.
"95 Points. All estate fruit; whole-bunch pressed to puncheons, hogsheads and barriques (20% new). 10–15% mlf. A very bright green gold. Bright and pure. White peach and grapefruit with the oak already well integrated into the wine. The palate is spot-on, even now, with terrific purity and vibrant, balanced acidity. Absolutely overdelivers at the price. That it will age well in the short term, at least, is a bonus. Drink: 2025 - 2029. Screwcap. 12.9% alc"- Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion.
