93 Points - Huon Hooke
The Henschke family have been making wine since Johann Henschke planted his first vineyard in South Australia’s Eden Valley in the early 1860's. Today, fifth-generation winemaker Stephen Henschke and viticulturist wife Prue are recognised around the world for their exceptional quality wines, innovation and sustainability practices in their vineyards.
A blend of Barossa Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and Viognier, the 2023 Henschke 'Henry's Seven' is again in cracking form offering lifted aromas of plum, red currant and black berry fruits. The round supple palate is filled with juicy blue and red fruits, spiced plum, liquorice and beautifully textured svelte tannins. A high-quality wine from one of Australia's finest red wine makers, this offers super value Barossa drinking.
"93 Points. Deep dark colour with a rich ripe and plush nose of black plums and cherries, the palate full bodied and fleshy, seductively smooth and supple in texture, with good length and loads of appeal. Drinks well now but there is no hurry."- Huon Hooke, The Real Review.
