96 Points - Stuart Knox
Henschke's Tappa Pass Shiraz is produced from up to 70-year-old, low-yielding shiraz vines from a selection of historical grower vineyards at Tappa Pass and Light Pass, These vineyards provide shiraz fruit from both the Eden and Barossa Valleys of the Barossa zone, vinified in traditional open-top fermenters.
The 2021 Henschke Tappa Pass Shiraz is another classic rendition of Barossa Shiraz from Henschke. With vibrant aromas of blueberry, blackberry, Satsuma plum and raspberry with hints of anise, crushed marjoram, cardamom, violets and cedar. The palate is rich, plush, and complex, with juicy blueberry and mulberry, spicy blackberry paste, and layers of fine velvety tannins creating incredible depth and length.
"96 Points. Ink black core into a deep purple rim. Mulberry, violets and iodine aromatics. Palate is weighty with ripe purple fruits that glide with serious class and distinction. Some anise spice and nori notes sit underneath and while the glide is silky, the tannins are still powerful and persistent. A very finely wrought wine that carries prodigious length."- Stuart Knox, The Real Review.
