95 Points - Dave Brookes
We've been big fans of Teusner Wines over the past two decades, with Kym Teusner and his team continuing to craft some of the most impressive old-vine Barossa red wines. Teusner's Albert Shiraz is named after Kym Teusner’s Grandfather, Albert Alfred Teusner; a man admired for his commitment and his persistence.
The 2022 Teusner Albert Shiraz is made from parcels of fruit sourced from a couple of Teusner's favourite vineyards; an old block at Ebenezer in the Barossa’s North and another at the Barossa’s South Eastern most extremity at Williamstown. A wine of incredible fruit purity there‘s plenty of blackberry, black satsuma plum, black cherry and cassis flavours. An innately approachable and elegant rendition of Barossa Shiraz, this latest release is sure to have plenty of appeal.
"95 Points. 100% shiraz from Koonunga and Ebenezer, matured 24 months in French oak, 50% new. Classic Barossa here. Ironstone-flecked blackberry, satsuma plum and black cherry fruits, fruitcake spice, licorice, dark chocolate, turned earth, choc-mint and pan juices. Plush with melt-in-the-mouth tannins and a twang of citrus acidity on the back end. $70. Drink: 2024 - 2035. Screwcap"- Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion.
