Torzi Matthews is well known for producing some of South Australia's best value Shiraz and this Mystic Park Shiraz is already attracting a big following. From Springton sub region of the Barossa, the Torzi Matthews Mystic Park Shiraz is produced via a combination of whole berry and 25% whole bunch natural vineyard yeast ferment in small open top fermenters. Basket pressed into seasoned 500 litre French oak barrels, this is bottled unfiltered.
The 2022 Torzi Matthews Mystic Park Shiraz offers perfumed aromatics of violets, spice and black cherry are offered up on the nose. The palate is approachable yet well-weighted with blackberry, chocolate flavours that are supported by subtle spice and super fine tannins. Another cracking value Shiraz from Torzi Matthews that is destined to be enormously popular.
"92 Points. Would likely go well with Mystic Pizza. Sarsaparilla and spice, cherry and flowers. It’s medium-bodied, quite juicy, but also Spanish black olives and some more meaty flavours, fine powdery tannin, a smattering of sage and dried herb, orange peel, with a slightly sappy finish of good length. It’s kind of like Beaujolais x Barossa Shiraz in a way, well, that kind of feel. Very good too. Tasted: Oct23 14% alc. $25. Drink: 2023 0 2027+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
