Located in the heart of Victoria's Macedon Ranges; the coolest viticultural region on mainland Australia- lies Curly Flat. Established in 1989 by Phillip Moraghan and Jenifer Kolkka (who took sole ownership in 2017), the estate was born from a singular, ambitious mission: to find a site capable of producing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that could rival the finesse and longevity of Burgundy.
Decades later, Curly Flat has become a standard-bearer for the region, known for its "fanatical" devotion to the vineyard and its hands-off, "custodian" approach in the cellar.
Curly Flat’s winemaking philosophy is rooted in minimal intervention. They use 100% estate-grown fruit, indigenous (wild) yeasts, and subtle oak handling to ensure the voice of the vineyard isn't muffled by the "thumbprint" of the winemaker.
One of Australia's leading cool-climate wineries, Curly Flat specialise in;
Pinot Noir: Considered by critics like Jancis Robinson to be among Australia's finest, the Pinot Noir is the estate’s crown jewel.
Chardonnay: Often described as a "powerhouse of precision," the Chardonnay consistently receives top honours for its balance of weight and acidity.
