95 Points - Ray Jordan
The Henschke family have been making wine since Johann Henschke planted his first vineyard in South Australia’s Eden Valley in the early 1860's. Today, fifth-generation winemaker Stephen Henschke and viticulturist wife Prue are recognised around the world for their exceptional quality wines, innovation and sustainability practices in their vineyards.
A blend of Barossa Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and Viognier, the 2022 Henschke 'Henry's Seven' is again in cracking form offering lifted aromas of plum, red currant and black berry fruits. The round supple palate is filled with juicy blue and red fruits, spiced plum, liquorice and beautifully textured svelte tannins. A high-quality wine from one of Australia's finest red wine makers, this offers super value Barossa drinking.
"95 Points. The beauty of the season is captured wonderfully in this excellent blend of shiraz, grenache, mataro and a tiny amount of viognier. Bright high energy red fruits with a spicy lift on the finish. Its more in the medium bodied zone but it certainly packs plenty of palate intensity delivered with a degree of finesse largely as a result of the subtle use of seasoned oak. This is a wine that has moved from its early iterations to one of more sophistication and poise."- Ray Jordan, rayjordan.com.
