Established in 1890, the iconic Kay Brothers Amery winery is one of Australia's most historically significant wineries - utilising many of the same practices it did during its formative years. Remarkably this McLaren Vale treasure remains in the founding family hands, with Colin Kay currently at the helm.
Kay Brothers have long produced one of Australia's leading Merlot and the 2021 Kay Brothers Amery Basket Pressed Merlot is another fine example, with aromas of mint, bay leaf and blackberry leaping out of the glass, with a touch of cigar box. The palate offers lashings of mulberry, plum and mocha. Supple acidity followed by slowly building, fine, chalky tannins. A dark, dense, full flavoured Merlot that will age for many years.
