95 Points - Philip Rich | Last Stocks
Since the early 2000's, Medhurst Estate has been crafting some of the Yarra Valley's finest wines. With the sole objective of making the best wine possible, careful vineyard management ensures yields are low, averaging two tonnes per acre and providing intensely flavoured fruit.
The 2021 Medhurst Estate Pinot Noir is another top class Yarra Valley Pinot Noir from Medhurst. Vibrant lifted aromas of red cherry and strawberry leap out of glass with some earthy and spicy notes. The palate delivers impressive fruit weight, with strawberry, raspberry and dark cherry flavours, supported by fine, silky tannin.
"95 Points. Destemmed into open fermenters with 3 days' cold soak prior to fermentation. Matured for 9 months in French barriques (25% new). Very bright crimson. Equally bright on the nose with its aromas of wild strawberry, raspberries, crushed violets and a little spice. Delicious straight out of the gate, this balanced and silky smooth wine will still be looking good 5-7 years from now. 13% alc. Screwcap. Drink by: 2028"- Philip Rich, winecompanion.com.au.
