Rob Hall was a winemaker at the esteemed Mount Mary vineyard for over 10 vintages, and during that time it's safe to assume he gained great insight into how to make top class Yarra Valley wine. After departing Mount Mary, Rob Hall launched his eponymous label, with a focus on making Yarra Valley varietals to be enjoyed in their youth at a very reasonable price point.
This 2023 Rob Hall Pinot Noir is produced from a blend of five Yarra Valley vineyards: Harriet’s Vineyard, Full Moon, Boat O’Craigo, Nenagh Park and Willowlake. Displaying lovely aromatics and intensity with plenty of cherry, cranberry, and a touch of spice. The palate is fresh, very approachable yet has good concentration of fruit that signals you're drinking a quality Pinot Noir.
"Mainly destemmed with a small amount of whole bunches. Matured, mainly, in seasoned hogheads and puncheons. A very light crimson. Fruit-forward aromas of gently poached red fruits, spices and light floral notes. The palate is similarly easygoing, with soft tannins rounding out an early-drinking, good-value Yarra pinot. 91 Points. Drink: 2024 - 2027. 13.5% alc. Drink: 2024 - 2027.
