Torbreck continues to take advantage of dry-grown, old vines to make some of the Barossa's most demanded wines. Torbreck's The Struie is a 'Shiraz cuvée'; a skilful blend of fruit from a 40 year old Eden Valley Shiraz vineyard and an 80 year old Barossa Shiraz vineyard - a marriage of elegance and intensity.
The 2023 Torbreck The Struie Shiraz is made up of 100% Shiraz; 76% from Barossa Valley and 24% Eden Valley. This mix delivers a wonderfully aromatic and deeply concentrated wine produced from the harmonious combination of both regions. Offering layers of dark chocolate, plum, blackberries, violets and spice characters all further enhance the natural elegance and tension of the fruit quality.
"94 Points. Shiraz from 76/24% Barossa Valley/Eden Valley. Deep magenta/crimson with aromas of blackberry, black cherry and blood plum underscored with hints of clove, bay leaf, licorice, dried meats, sage, mace, dark chocolate, graphite and violets. Oak, while there, is never a dominant feature in Torbreck wines; it's always about the fruit and the fruit here is black, spicy and has a long pull, with powdered, granitic tannins and plenty of latent power. 15% alc. Drink: 2025 - 2045. Cork. $55"- Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion.
