- Best Tasmanian White Wine - 2022 Royal Hobart Wine Show
- 97 Points - James Halliday | 97 Points - Decanter Magazine
Dawson James is an impressive partnership between the experienced winemaker duo of Peter Dawson and Tim James. With grapes grown on the Meadowbank vineyard, approximately 60 kms northwest of Hobart, they continue to produce brilliant examples of cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
The highly acclaimed 2020 Dawson James Chardonnay was judged 'Best Tasmanian White Wine' among an impressive field of wines at the 2022 Royal Hobart Wine Show. This has subsequently been followed by 97 point reviews from both James Halliday and Decanter Magazine.
A stunning, pristine Tasmanian Chardonnay with lifted aromas of citrus peel, grapefruit with the complexity of struck flint and freshly baked pastry. Flavours are tightly wound with a core of sweet lemon curd, cream and cashew, finishing with lively long soft acidity. The relatively low alcohol, vibrant fruit intensity and natural acidity should ensure this has a long life ahead of it.
"97 Points. The bouquet surges from the glass, pink and yellow grapefruit to the fore, plus a desirable flick of funky complexity on the way through. It's entering its second life with the finale years away. It barely needs saying, but the savoury acidity is its staff of life. With deluxe chardonnays at $140-plus, this is positively cheap. 12.2% alc. Drink: 2024 - 2040. Screwcap. $68"- James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion.
“97 Points. Explosive aromas of lime and lemon blossom with nuances of smoky gun flint and a delicious pastry warmth. Sapid and tense with mouth-watering acidity and tightly integrated salty oak finish. Very long and fine”- Decanter Magazine 2023.
