96 Points - Mike Bennie
Located in Sunbury, on the outskirts of Melbourne, Craiglee is one of Australia's most historically significant vineyards. With vines first planted on the site in 1863, Craiglee continue to produce some of Australia's finest cool-climate Shiraz under the ownership of Pat and Dianne Carmody.
Craiglee's 'Eadie' Shiraz is produced from grapes grown on Craiglee's paddock on the southern side of Jackson's Creek, named for the family who first planted vines on the spot in 1863. Hand-grown, hand-harvested and handmade at Craiglee's historic site in Sunbury, this is beautifully aromatic delivering a punchy mix of blueberry, sour cherries, plum and dried herb.
The palate is typically refined and savoury, with the vibrant fruit flavours, subtle cool-climate spice and the mouth-watering acidity we've come to expect from Craiglee. Another masterclass in cool-climate Shiraz from one of Australia's leading exponents, our limited stocks are sure to sell out fast.
"96 Points. The Eadie is a single plot wines that is made from fruit located on the southern side of Jacksons Creek in the vineyard of Craiglee, and is named for the family who first planted vines there in 1863. What a thing. A lush and plush expression, somewhat outside the norm of the Craiglee precision, a touch more volume but all the control and charm expected of top flight shiraz from here. Depth is a thing here, so too a velvety feel, rich, ripe plum, a liqueur cassis note that flows through and then lifts with green olive, violet florals, a touch of sweet spice, dried Italian herbs, faint game meat notes, some cedar and clove in there too. A lot on. Really good. Just so, rich but refreshing, and a full experience. So unique. Tasted: JAN26 13.5% alc. $50 Screwcap. Drink: 2026 - 2038+"- Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
