Garagiste is one of Australia's brightest cool-climate producers, created by Barnaby Flanders back in 2006. Crafting an impressive range of small-batch Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Garagiste has a focus on expressing the single-sites and sub-regions of the Peninsula.
The 2023 Garagiste Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir is a blend of Peninsula grapes grown at Balnarring, Merricks North, Red and Merricks Grove. Another brilliant example of Peninsula Pinot Noir, this is bright and aromatic with bright perfume, black cherry, strawberry and raspberry flavours, with spice and soft round tannins.
"94 Points. This is spicy, red fruited, some dried mint and flowers. kind of exotic too with that cardamom pod thing. It’s medium-bodied, sappy and crunchy, cherry and strawberry, dried herb perfume, the tannin just sits so well within the wine and it lays on the charm from front to back. It’s savoury and saline, some almond paste, but has vibrancy and plenty of fruit. It has personality and more than a little chutzpah. More importantly, it drinks a charm. Tasted: May24 13.5% alc. $35 Screwcap Drink: 2024 - 2029+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
