97 Points - Huon Hooke
Long considered one of the shining lights of the Margaret River wine region, the overall quality of wine produced at Leeuwin Estate is at a seemingly all-time high. While their Chardonnay rightfully receives most the headlines, Leeuwin Estate's Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon is consistently one of the region's finest examples.
The 2020 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cabernet Sauvignon is another top-line example of Margaret River Cabernet, displaying vibrant fruit flavours blueberries, blackcurrant, dark cherries along with some bay leaf, anise and roast coffee. A wine of immense quality and character, worthy of a place in any cellar.
"97/100. Deep red with a good tint of purple in the rim, the bouquet showing tobacco/ cedar, nori/briar and peaty/iodine-like nuances. It's full-bodied and powerful, with lavish tannins, bright acidity and good concentration. Redcurrant and blackberry- red and black fruits both evident. A very smart and age worthy cabernet."- Huon Hooke, The Real Review, December 2023.
“97 Points. The power and intensity of the small and early 2020 vintage is evident here. Shows a little of the 2019 but with greater volume of fruit. Deep and concentrated with a powerful statement of black fruits merged with a black olive, seaweed iodine and leafy bay character. There is a juicy succulence here that fleshes out the middle palate. A slightly firmer, concentrated and more tannic wine than the 2019, yet the balancing fruit ensures it retains an elegance and poise.” - Ray Jordan, Business News, March 2024.
