Paul Scorpo produces some truly superb fruit from his meticulously planted vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula. With the help of Sandro Moselle, Scorpo has built a reputation for making some of the Peninsula’s finest wines.
This 2018 Scorpo PInot Noir is already looking very composed, with plenty of red fruit and oak already integrated. Medium bodied, this feels perfumed and pure and clean-fruited in the mouth; a touch of plushness - just right - pulpy and balanced, and the acidity nicely nudges it through. Fresh. Lovely fruit, and very well put together - this is a top class Mornington Peninsula Pinot from Scorpo.
Review of the 2017 vintage included below;
"96 Points. Hand-picked MV6 and Abel clones fermented separately with very different vinification, matured for 13 months in French oak (20% new). Deep, clear crimson-purple; powerful, deep and rich, yet no hint of over-extraction. Luscious plum and dark berry fruit tells you to take no liberties. Top stuff with a spicy savoury finish. Will live for many years on the pinot calendar. $55.00 13.5% alc. Drink By: 2037 Screwcap" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
