Whistling Eagle has established itself as one of the stars of Victoria's Heathcote wine region, with their wines in high demand both in Australia and in major international markets.
The 2022 Whistling Eagle Bomber is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet, Sangiovese, Grenache and Malbec which combine together to deliver a typically generous Heathcote red wine. Medium to full-bodied, the 2022 Whistling Eagle Bomber offers plenty of dark red fruits, cherry ripe, plum and raspberry notes, with a subtle hint of pepper and spice. Finishing with soft tannin and impressive length, this is a superb Heathcote red from one of the region's star producers.
"Lynn and Ian “Bomber” Rathjen planted the Whistling Eagle vineyard in 1995, to sell grapes to other winemakers. “The scale of the demand was so great that I had a contract (with Hardys) before we even had our first crop,” says Bomber. When demand for shiraz softened a decade later, they planted other varieties like sangiovese and grenache.
